Giving

St Paul writes, “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship” (Romans 12:1).

We give our time, our talents, and our financial resources so that the Church may flourish and God’s love may be made known in the world.

The gifts of time and talent, such as welcoming at the door, arranging flowers, assisting with children, serving at the altar, or simply being present in prayer, are priceless. But the mission of the Church also needs financial support.

We know some at St Augustine’s are on fixed incomes or under financial pressure. Giving should never be a burden. It is part of our discipleship, and each person is invited to give prayerfully and generously, according to their means.

At St Augustine’s, we encourage people to give through the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS), which allows regular donations to be made directly to the parish, with Gift Aid added automatically if you are a taxpayer. It is very easy to set up a one-off donation or a regular gift from the St Augustine’s PGS page, and we are extremely grateful for your generosity.

Financial giving doesn’t just keep the church doors open; it supports everything that helps the Church to flourish. It provides housing and a stipend for clergy, ensures safeguarding is in place, funds training and pastoral care, and supports wider mission across the Diocese of Southwark. In this way, what we give locally sustains both our parish and the Church’s ministry more widely.
